01.
Acupuncture is safely performed using single use, disposable needles, finely inserted into various points along meridians that network and harmonise the body.It utilizes specific points on the body which act as gateways into the body’s energy system which in turn govern the functioning of the internal organs, glands and tissues. These points allow the practitioner to correct imbalances and restore harmony not only to the specific area affected, but also the body as a whole. Health is maintained within certain limits yet illness arises when our biological activities move outside the optimum levels, leading first to decrease in activity then malfunction and finally disease.
02.
Although the word shiatsu translates literally from the Japanese as ‘finger pressure’, in practice, Shiatsu is a dynamic body therapy in which the therapist uses the thumbs, palms, elbows, knees and feet to apply therapeutic pressure to various parts of the body. Treatment may also include the use of flowing stretches and gentle rotations of the limbs and joints, simple structural alignments and muscle release techniques. A Shiatsu treatment is performed with the client fully clothed, on a shiatsu futon
